 They are waiting for him to resubmit the necessary documents to be a candidate for the position of President

On this Wednesday, May 29, 2024, the National Electoral Commission (NEC), received the documents of Barafinda Sekikubo Fred, which requires approval to be a candidate for the position of the President of the Republic in the elections that will be held in July 2024.

It was after the last presidential election in 2017, Barafinda also tried to campaign but was not allowed, because he did not meet the requirements.

This time, Barafinda said that he was well received by the Electoral Commission Barafinda said that he was well received by the Electoral Commission, and he also believes that he will now be allowed to run for the position of President of the Nation.

He returned to the journey to find the documents that would allow him to apply, saying that it was not an easy journey, but that with God he was able to achieve it.

Barafinda said the journey to get the documents was not easy

He said, “It was a very difficult journey, it was like Mount Kalisimbi. But with God all things are possible, if you believe in God and walk in the truth, everything will be easy."

Barafinda said that although he did not get the chance to run for the position of the President of the Republic, now he is confident that he will be accepted because over the years he is gaining knowledge in politics.

He said, “I bring a wealth of wisdom, knowledge and experience. Now I have all the points."

They lost Sekikubo Fred, who became the third person to campaign as an independent candidate for the position of President of the Republic, after Herman Manirareba and Hakizimana Innocent.


The Electoral Commission did not announce whether all of Barafinda's documents are complete, especially regarding the signatures of the 600 people who are required to have signed him, only the Commission says that it will check if his documents are complete.

It is planned that the Electoral Commission will continue to accept those who wish to be candidates in the elections of the Deputies and the President of the Republic, until May 30, 2024.
